The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on 29 August initiated an interim review of its order made on January 5, 2015, in Expiry Review No. RR-2014-001, concerning certain carbon steel fasteners, originating in or exported from the People''s Republic of China and Chinese Taipei. This interim review was initiated at the request of Canimex Inc. and after the Tribunal determined that the request was properly documented.
The purpose of this interim review is to determine if the findings should be modified to exclude the product identified by Canimex Inc.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
