TEX reported that the stainless crude steel production by 6 major stainless steel mills in October 2014 was 287,192 tonnes down by 5.7% from 304,514 tonnes of the prior month. This also represented a decrease of 6.1% versus the year earlier month (305,891 tonnes).
In October, several mills'' production volumes were up from the prior month but some mills started production adjustment, which resulted in the total production volume being down from the prior month. The mill whose production cut range was especially big was Chiba Works of JFE Steel Corporation.
In November, as the regular furnace repair took place at Shunan Works of Nisshin Steel Company Limited and Kawasaki Works of Nippon Yakin Kogyo Company Limited cut production, the production volume is anticipated to be further down from October.
