The European stainless steel market participants forecasted that the stainless steel alloy surcharges for February will be lowered by EUR45/ton roughly compared to the previous month due to recent fluctuations in prices of nickel and other raw materials.
In addition, it was expected that the nickel price will rise back, so the stainless steel alloy surcharges for March will be raised accordingly.
Ovako, a leading producer of engineering steel in Europe, has announced to lower its nickel surcharges by 10.5% month on month for February.
