According to the operative report released by Outokumpu, the largest stainless steel manufacturer in Europe, the company shipped around 2.45 million tons of stainless steel in 2017, increasing by 0.16% year on year, and the shipment of ferrochrome was around 105,000 tons, down by 16.6% year on year.
In the fourth quarter of 2017, the shipment of stainless steel totaled around 560,000 tons, down by 9.95% from the same period of last quarter and down by 5.87% from the same period of last year; the shipment of ferrochrome totaled around 22,000 tons, up by 29.4% quarter on quarter and down by 26.6% year on year.
Due to the strong demand of stainless steel Europe and the United States, Outokumpu expected its shipment of stainless steel would increase in the first quarter of this year from the same period a quarter ago.
