Indian industry asks government to take out stainless import duty on raw materials-The 19th China(Guangzhou)Int'l Stainless Steel Industry Exhibition

The India stainless steel industry has requested the government to take out import duty on ferro-nickel and stainless steel scrap. The main reason was that India has very little nickel resources.
The government has taken out the pure nickel importing duty last time. However, this did help the steel raw material shortage much. Therefore, the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) has tried to take out further customs duty on critical stainless raw materials such as ferro-nickel related to steel raw material.
In addition, India has great demand for scrap, so India steel industry has requested the government to cut off the steel scrap import duty to zero. The removing of the ferro-nickel and stainless steel scrap import duty was strongly requested by steel industry.
